Abbey of Montecassino, Royal Palace Caserta

Abbey of Montecassino

Founded by San Benedetto da Norcia in 529 AD. it is the oldest monastery in Italy.
It has been destroyed four times in wars and earthquakes.
The most recent, during the bombing by allied troops, in the last world war In 1944, it was completely destroyed.
The renovation works began in 1949 and lasted 10 years

Royal Palace – Caserta

The Reggia has more than 1200 rooms and was designed by Luigi Vanvitelli on the orders of King Charles of Bourbon. Built in 1752 in Caserta, away from the sea for greater protection from enemy attacks.
In addition to the Royal Palace, you can admire the fantastic gardens with fountains, waterfalls, statues and woods.
It is compared, in beauty and majesty, to the Palace of Versailles in France, built a few years earlier.
